Fed up with the cold and the rain and feel it’s time to jet off to hot, sunny climes? Then the summer holidays are just perfect for you. They are usually the most cherished part of the calendar, a chance to get a prolonged break away on your own, with friends or family.

But at times, it can be disappointing when your vacation turns out to be a wash-out, this is why we’ve compiled a list to help you find out where is (almost guaranteed to be) hot and sunny all year round!

#1 The Maldives

The Maldives, an island country in the Indian Ocean, is the exotic getaway that enjoys eight hours of sunshine per day on average. The country has dry and wet seasons, but the temperatures vary little during “summer” and “winter” months. The mean daytime minimum temperature totals to around 77° F (25°C). In general the temperature is pretty consistent – it equals around 86° F (30°C). Sounds like a paradise!

The dry season or the north-eastern monsoon lasts from December to March, while the wet season or south-western monsoon, with more rain and higher humidity, approaches the Maldives in May to leave the islands in November. The good news is that it almost never rains longer than 3 days straight.

#2 Hawaii

Hawaii is an obvious choice if you’re looking for sunny skies and soaring temperatures throughout the year. Backed by dramatic cliffs and volcanoes and teetering on the stunning Pacific coast, it’s the ideal spot for sun worshipers. Hawaii is blessed with warm and sunny weather year round.

The islands actually have only two seasons: summer and winter, but these do not differ much. The average day temperature during summer is 85°F (29°C) and 78 ° F (26°C) in winter. The lowest day temperature is around 68°F (20°C), which is not bad at all. The dry season starts in April and ends in October, and the wet season lasts from November to March, but it rarely rains for more than 3 days in a row, so there is no way the rain could ruin your holidays.

#3 Bangkok, Thailand

By some measures, Bangkok is actually considered the hottest big city on earth. The average temperature for the entire year is 84°F/29°C, which of course includes the coolest month of December when the average high is 87°F/31°C and the average low is 70°F/21°C. Its location not too far north of the Equator helps explain the oddity of having April and May tie for the hottest months, with average high temperatures of 102°F/39°C. But that makes it seem more pleasant than it really is, because starting in March the face-melting humidity kicks in as well, making morning showers in your hotel room nearly pointless.

The extreme conditions are one factor in why this is one of the few countries in Asia where modesty can take a backseat at times so some of the locals can actually wear shorts in public. So, if you’re looking for sunnier climes, then Thailand is a pretty good bet.

#4 Canary Islands

It is always a good time to visit the Canary Islands. The archipelago that belongs to Spain is located off the northwest coast of Africa and it really is an eternal sunshine destination. While snow-covered Europe is shivering with cold, the islands’ mean temperature totals to around 66° F (19°C), but obviously, it can get much hotter. Summer average is around 75° F (24°C), but it can easily go up to 86° F (30°C).

Canary Island

November and April are off season months, and it actually is the best time to visit the islands. The fares go down and the temperatures are pleasantly warm, not too hot, but just perfect. At a mere 50 miles from Africa’s Sub-Saharan region, the Canary Islands benefit from an African climate and are warm all year round.

#5 Egypt

I know you were waiting for an African country to appear on the list, well here it is. Generally speaking, Egypt, the land of sun, is a year round destination as long as you stay along the coasts. The temperature ranges between 80 °F (27 °C) and 90 °F (32 °C) in summer, and between 55 °F (13 °C) and 70 °F (21 °C) in winter.

During the summer months the country gets really dry and hot, and it is better to avoid inland regions, located south of Cairo. In turn, the Mediterranean coast and the Red Sea area are great during the summer months. The long peak season lasts from October to May. Summer in Egypt isn’t actually as hot as you might think it would be (although it’s still very hot)

#6 Dubai, UAE

The City of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates is one good place to spend your summer holiday. From June through September the average temperatures are at least 100°F/38°C, and forget about that ‘dry heat’ thing because it’s humid here too.

Add in that, temperatures here in the Persian Gulf can reach 95°F/35°C in summer and many pools actually need to be cooled to be comfortable, and you wonder how hot this city is. Well, it’s hot but a cool place to be.

#7 Cape Verde

Ten islands of the Republic of Cape Verde are located around 600 kilometers (375 miles) off the coast of West Africa, but the archipelago’s climate is much more moderate than that of the African countries thanks to the refreshing ocean currents. From December to March the temperature totals to around 77° F (25°C), while summer months enjoy the average daily high temperatures of 29 °C (84 °F).

Cape Verde

You would have to be really unlucky to experience heavy rain in the country – the islands receive around 260mm of annual rainfall, so the climate of Cape Verde is semi-desert.

So there you have it, these places really enjoy great weather almost 365 days a year but it is not always perfect, the temperatures may go high, and rain may last a bit longer than you expect, but compared to other parts of the world, these places are truly blessed with dependable year-round weather.
