Just like a gigantic dragon, the Great Wall winds up and down across deserts, grasslands, mountains and plateaus, stretching approximately 8,851.8 km (5,500 miles) from east to west of China. The Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal in India is beauty personified! It displays its different moods through its varied shades. The Taj has as many shades as any kind of beauty can ever have! This remarkable site is pinkish in the morning, milky white in the evening, golden when the moon shines and the intermediary variants during different hours of the day and during different seasons in a year.
A visit to the Taj will keep you indulged with thoughts superimposing your sight and would make you feel the presence of Shah Jahan, the Maker and Mumtaz Mahal, the Reason, as though walking along with you. Whence its breathtaking splendour makes you wonder breathlessly and you tend to pause for a while but to continue staring at ‘The Taj’, you would sense them standing beside you!
If one has a heart that beats and that beat throbs to seek, the purity of love in galore! Surely one deserves a visit to ‘The Taj’, as much as ‘The Taj’ deserves your visit once, and more! Built by an emperor in memory of his wife, the Taj Mahal is a symbol of eternal love that is a MUST VISIT.
Giant causeway, Northern Ireland
With 40,000 massive columns protruding from the sea, this is definitely a World Heritage Site worth mentioning!
Originally part of a great volcanic plateau, the columns are hexagonal in shape and are about 12 meters high at the tallest. There are many legends surrounding Giant’s Causeway, including one of an Irish warrior who tricked a nemesis into believing he was a giant by dressing himself as a baby, leaving the nemesis to wonder that if the baby is so large than the father must surely be gargantuan. The nemesis had supposedly torn up the causeway to be sure that the warrior wouldn’t follow him as he fled back home.
This site is one place tourists and travellers round the world need to see some day.
Central Amazon conservation complex, South America
It wouldn’t be proper to have a list of amazing World Heritage Sites without including the breathtaking Amazon Conservation Complex! Having unparalleled biodiversity, the Amazon Rainforest is home to the largest collection of living plants and animal species in the world. One square kilometre of the rainforest is said to contain over a thousand types of trees, and in general, the Amazon has over tens of thousands of plant species. There are approximately 800 different species of mammals in the Amazon Rainforest but some of the more uncommon mammals include the Jaguar, the Ocelot and the Monk Saki. The Amazon Basin is the second longest river in the world and accounts for about 20% of water carried to oceans from regions. Impressive forests, lakes, rivers and islands all comprise the Central Amazon Conservation Complex.
Pyramids in Egypt
Built during a time when Egypt was one of the richest and most powerful civilizations in the world, the pyramids—especially the Great Pyramids of Giza—are some of the most magnificent man-made structures in history. Their massive scale reflects the unique role that the pharaoh, or king, played in ancient Egyptian society. Though pyramids were built from the beginning of the Old Kingdom to the close of the Ptolemaic period in the fourth century A.D., the peak of pyramid building began with the late third dynasty and continued until roughly the sixth (c. 2325 B.C.). More than 4,000 years later, the Egyptian pyramids still retain much of their majesty, providing a glimpse into the country’s rich and glorious past.
So there you have it, these are some world heritage sites that are really fascinating and one thing that is guaranteed after a visit to these sites is that there would be so much stories and memories to tell on your arrival. That I’m sure about!
